Join us for a half-day workshop led by Kathy Gust exploring the practice of group spiritual direction. Together, we will reflect on how shared listening, silence, and prayerful conversation can deepen awareness of God’s presence and movement in our lives.
Group spiritual direction offers a contemplative space where participants attend to God through the lives, stories, and discernments of others. This workshop will introduce the structure, rhythms, and facilitation approaches that support this form of spiritual companionship.
Participants will consider how to cultivate a prayerful and discerning environment marked by safety, trust, mutual listening, and reflection. Practical guidance will be offered for leading groups well and supporting a process that is both communal and deeply contemplative.

Prayer stands at the heart of spiritual direction as both context and practice. This workshop will offer theological and scriptural foundations for prayer, while also inviting practical reflection on lived experience in the direction relationship.
Participants will engage different understandings and expressions of prayer, including silence and solitude, and consider how prayer supports discernment before, during, and after spiritual direction sessions. Attention will also be given to practices, resources, and approaches that sustain a deepening life of prayer for both director and directee.

Mental health and spiritual direction are interrelated dimensions of the human experience. This workshop will invite participants to consider how spiritual direction can provide a grounded and prayerful space for those living with mental health challenges, while also recognizing the importance of wise boundaries and appropriate care.
