As you begin your scripture reading, consider last week’s scriptures and return to any that are staying with you. Or, once again take time to read and consider the scripture below.
Listen to the audio before you begin
Sometimes, when we hurt, we cannot allow our hearts to be open to God. We ask, “how can God love me like this?” We forget how Jesus said that God was more present to people on the fringe of society and to those who are broken, than to the powerful and healthy.
Perhaps we find it difficult to forgive ourselves. Forgiveness is both the gateway to God and the climate of life with God. Forgiveness and healing go together. Jesus comes to unbind us and to save us from ourselves.
Psalm 103 As the heavens are high above the earth, so surpassing is God’s kindness. God heals our ills and frees us from our iniquities.
Guide
Presence of God: Be still, noticing your breathing. Breathe in the breath of God; breathe out what distracts us from our greatest friend and healer, Jesus.
Read Psalm 103 twice, once silently and once aloud.
In what areas of your life, do you need to experience the healing/forgiving touch of Jesus? Spend time in prayer speaking your vulnerable places to Jesus. Know that Jesus cares more for you than you do, yourself. Sit in silence, wait for a word—a touch from Jesus.
Reflect on your prayer experience and its impact and meaning for your life.
Journal your prayer and experience of this time.
