Welcome to Week 2 Day 3
It is good to enter into the time of meditative prayer with a spirit of quiet and relaxation. Let the mystery of God be near you, and let yourself be open to God’s gift of the Spirit.
OT Psalm 32: 8-11
NT Luke 6:20-26 The Beatitudes and Woes
Presence: Take two deep cleansing breaths, remembering that God is the giver of life. “Here I am God. Thank you for your presence.”
Read Luke 6:20-26 once quietly and once aloud.
Lectio Divina: What words or phrases are highlighted for you as you read? Take those words or phrases to God in prayer. What is God saying to you through these words or phrases? What is God’s invitation to you today?
Read Luke 6:20-26
Looking at his disciples, he said:
“Blessed are you who are poor,
for yours is the kingdom of God.
Blessed are you who hunger now,
for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who weep now,
for you will laugh.
Blessed are you when people hate you,
when they exclude you and insult you
and reject your name as evil,
because of the Son of Man.
“Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven.
For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.
“But woe to you who are rich,
for you have already received your comfort.
Woe to you who are well fed now,
for you will go hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now,
for you will mourn and weep.
Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you,
for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.
Reflect on your life, in light of these blessings and woes. Take your reflections to God in prayer. Journal your prayer experience.
